Nigerian Singer Ayra Starr, Becomes The First Woman To Win Best African Act In The MOBO Award

Talented music artist, Ayra Starr wins the Best African Act at the 2025 MOBO Awards

Ayra Starr has won the Best African Act at the 2025 MOBO Awards.

 

The music star beat other Nigerian music artists Asake and Tems and also South Africa’s Tyla to win the award.

 

Ayra Starr was up against Nicki Minaj, Megan Thee Stallion, Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, Tems and Latto, for the Best International Act and she beat them all.

 

In her acceptance speech, the talented singer says “Okay, this is my first MOBO, and this is my first time winning a MOBO Award-make some noise!

I’m actually shaking right now. I’m actually nervous.

Thank you so much to everybody who supported me. Thank you to my team, my amazing MOB-STARS.

My amazing brother who makes music with me, the producers in the studio, my studio partner in crime, my label MAVINS Records, Embryo, my mummy!”

Thank you so much. Thank you, MOBO.”
