General, Freedom of Information, Security, Taxation and Commercial, and Small Business Taxation Divisions
Most fees to apply for review of a decision in the above divisions, where a fee is payable, increased on 1 July 2023.
- The standard application fee has increased to $1,082.
- The fee for review of a small business taxation decision has increased to $581.
- The fee for review of certain other types of taxation decisions has increased to $107.
If you are eligible to pay a reduced fee, that fee remains at $100.
The new fees apply if an application fee is paid on or after 1 July 2023, even if the application was lodged before that date.
Fee changes occur annually in accordance with changes in the Consumer Price Index under section 27 of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal Regulation 2015.
Migration and Refugee Division
From 1 July 2023, the application fee for review of a migration decision under Part 5 of the Migration Act 1958 increased to $3,374.
In cases where a 50% fee reduction is granted, the reduced fee will be $1,687.
This new fee applies to an application for review of a migration decision lodged on or after 1 July 2023. It also applies to an application for review lodged before 1 July 2023 that was not accompanied by the full prescribed fee or 50% of the prescribed fee and a request for a fee reduction.
The application fee for review of a protection visa decision under Part 7 of the Migration Act 1958 increased to $2,076. This fee is payable only if the application is not successful.
The new fee applies to an application for review of a protection visa decision lodged on or after 1 July 2023.
Fee changes occur annually in accordance with changes in the Consumer Price Index under regulations 4.13A and 4.31BA of the Migration Regulations 1994.
