Many universities in New Zealand offer their scholarships for international students. Examples include the University of Auckland International Student Excellence Scholarship, University of Otago International Research Postgraduate Scholarship, etc. These scholarships typically cover tuition fees, living expenses, and sometimes include travel costs. However, the eligibility criteria, application process, and deadlines vary for each scholarship program.
Most scholarships in New Zealand for international students require proof of English proficiency as part of the application process. This is commonly demonstrated through standardized English language proficiency tests such as the IELTS (International English Language Testing System), TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), Cambridge English exams, or other equivalent examinations.
However, there might be exceptions or alternative ways to prove English proficiency, such as completing previous education in English-speaking institutions or providing evidence of English language proficiency through other means. It’s crucial to review the requirements for each scholarship program individually to understand their specific English language proficiency criteria and whether they accept alternative forms of proof of English proficiency.
These are list of universities in New Zealand with fully funded scholarship without requiring IELTS or any formal English exam if the applicant previously studies in English:
