All occupations on the Australian Government’s subclass 190 and 491 Skilled Occupation List are eligible for at least one of Tasmania’s nomination pathways.

THE STATE OF VICTORIA VISA 149 AND 190

The Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) allows skilled migrants to live and work in designated regional areasexternal link for up to 5 years, with a pathway to permanent residence after 3 years. You must receive nomination from Victoria before you can apply for this visa.

THE STATE OF SOUTH AUSTRALI VISA 149 AND 190

South Australia offers state nomination across two visa options for skilled migrants that provide pathways to permanent residency. Skilled Nominated visa Subclass 190 is a state nominated permanent visa for skilled migrants that allows you to live and work in South Australia. Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa Subclass 491 is a state nominated provisional visa for skilled migrants that allows you to live and work in South Australia for up to five years and can provide a pathway to permanent residency

THE CAPITAL TERITORY VISA 149 AND 190

The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Government has the flexibility to address skills shortages and labour market needs in the Territory through the state/territory nominated stream of the Australian Migration Program. The Australian Government allocates the ACT a fixed number of nomination places each financial year.

The 2024-25 allocation is 1,800 nomination places:

  • ACT permanent 190 nomination: 1000 places
  • ACT provisional 491 nomination: 800 places
